The Manager and Their Practice

The Manager and Their Practice

This module is designed for people working in general practice who are either:

  • New to the role of practice manager or
  • Aspiring to the role of the practice manager

Practice Management is an ever changing and highly demanding job. Whilst understanding the operational mechanics of the role is obviously important, it is also crucial to understand the potential dynamics within a general practice and be able to adapt your preferred working style in order to get the most out of your staff.

Identifying and developing key working relationships within and outside your practice has never been more important, particularly with the advent of Primary Care Networks.

This training day will enable you to develop the skills and confidence to create positive working relationships with your major stakeholders, whilst appreciating the breadth and depth of your role in the practice.

Topics covered on the taught day include:

  • Understanding the diversity of the practice manager’s role
  • Assessing your current competencies
  • Mapping and relating to key stakeholders
  • Managing “The Boss”
  • Management versus leadership
  • Leadership styles
  • Managing change resistance

The cost of the module is £160 + VAT per person.

The module is taught using a blended learning approach. The course is professionally accredited with the RCGP and the CPD Standards Office.

The unit is composed of one online module and one face to face taught day which are both compulsory in order to successfully complete the unit. Students will have access to the online unit for six months from the date of payment and will be enrolled on the next available face to face session.

Students must score 100% on the multiple choice questions at the end of the online unit and attend the full-day taught day to successfully complete the module. Upon successful completion students will be awarded a Certificate of Completion from Londonwide LMCs and 10 CPD hours from the CPD Standards Office.
